Generator Maintenance is critical when it comes to longevity. You have made a huge investment. The only way to protect it is with maintenance. Most generators need an oil change about every 200+ hours. A generator should have a full service at least once a year. This includes changing the oil and air filter. Changing the spark plugs and doing a physical visual inspection.

Generators mainly are air cooled. My point is spend a few extra dollars on synthetic oil. Also use an OEM filter to ensure the best fit. The only other point with an OEM filter is they are usually larger and allow a small amount of additional oil to be held in the system. More oil allows for the generator to run cooler, smother and more efficient.
